Yarmouth JOG 6th-7th June

The Yarmouth JOG was supposed to consist of two races: Cowes to Yarmouth round a few marks on the Saturday and then from Yarmouth back to Cowes round a few more marks. There was to be the usual JOG social reception at Yarmouth and arrangements had been made for berthing in Yarmouth. None of this happened, thanks to the weather. by late in the week the forecast was pretty clear – Saturday was going to be foul.

Friday evening the call was made – Saturday racing was off; there would be a briefing later on Saturday. After a frustrating day on shore on Saturday on the Sunday we set off from the JOG start line for a round-the-cans race ending back at the start line. We were late leaving the marina and ended up late for the start. We had a fun time but never really got on the pace and ended up where we had started – at the back. At least we got racing.
